In
conjunction with a Swansea Bay Orienteering Club (SBOC) Summer
League Event.
Welcome
to the first event as part of the Welsh Mega 2011 which will
take place at 5pm within the park and last for the traditional
15 minutes.
Pembrey Country Park is firmly established as one of Wales'
top attractions. With its award winning golden sandy beach,
dry ski slope, toboggan ride, crazy golf, pitch and putt, miniature
train rides, adventure play area, equestrian centre and a variety
of nature trails, there is something for the whole family. Further
information about the park can be found HERE.
The remains of the former Royal Ordnance Factory that closed
in 1965 can be found throughout the park with many bunkers and
tunnels waiting to be explored.
Following
the Flashmob Event, Swansea Bay Orienteering Club will be holding
an informal Summer League event nearby from 5:30pm until 8:30pm.
Final details of this event will be made available nearer the
time HERE.
Hope
to see you there...

You
really can't miss the iconic Mumbles Big Apple on the way to the
event location and the recommended car park for the event is close
by. One of a number of such structures built around Wales and
South West England in the 1930s to promote a cider drink, its
believed to be the last of its kind in the UK (by quite some time)
but even today serves as a kiosk, selling drinks and snacks to
customers. |

We
invite you to Gnoll Country Park, Neath, to taste some North
West specialities like Lancashire & Cheshire cheese, Eccles
& Chorley cakes, as well as Blackpool Rock. Cumbria offers
Kendal Mint Cake, Grasmere Gingerbread and the world famous
Sticky Toffee Pudding from Cartmel. Bring a chair, bring a
picnic........ but most importantly, bring yourselves.
This is an outdoor event, close to the Visitor Centre (which
has a café), but if we have inclement weather we have booked
space inside.
Based
on an early 18th century landscaped garden of over 100 acres,
Gnoll Country Park was awarded the title of Best Picnic spot
in Wales in 2010 and features lakeside and woodland walks,
restored cascades, a grotto, play area, adventure playground
and a visitor centre. Well behaved dogs are very welcome,
although they should not enter the play areas or go indoors.

The event, in The Oystercatcher, Penarth Haven, will provide
the usual base to sit and chat. Close by are Cardiff's Sports
Village and the Bay Barrage, while the Bay Trail passes the
door and provides an opportunity to undertake the Cardiff Bay
Perambulation.
It is hoped that attendees will take the opportunity to follow
the Bay Trail, a well signed walking and cycling route which
follows as close as practical to the perimeter of Cardiff Bay.
The trail is 10 km, but could be reduced by using the waterbus,
road train and/or the A4232 bridge. The route takes you past
Penarth Haven, the Barrage (with its locks, weirs, fish pass
and Captain Scott and coal exhibitions), Norwegian Church, Lightship,
the Senedd, Pierhead Building (original dock offices), Roald
Dahl Plass (outdoor arena, familiar to Torchwood fans) and Millennium
Centre, Mermaid Quay, Techniquest, Wetlands Reserve, Cardiff
Sports Village (with its ice rink, international pool and White
Water Centre), parks, three children's play areas, lots of urban
art and places to eat ? and a few geocaches.
