The Swanmel Dragon Race
(Well, we couldn't put the Cart before the … er … sea)
The mission of the dragon entrants to the race is to cover the most miles before the 2012 UK Mega on 11th August 2012 at Cartmel. The race will be officially started at Mega Wales on 31st July 2011 in Swansea.
All entrants must have the official Red Dragon geocoin dog tag, but you can attach whatever you please to it to make it personal. All purchasers of Mega Wales Supporter's Packs will find one of the dog tags in their packs. If you are not a Supporter, but want to join in the race, the tags will be available to purchase on the day from Oakcoins or, afterwards, through stockists. While there will be a massed start in Swansea on 31st July, entrants can start at different locations and at a later date. Obviously, the longer you leave it to start, the bigger the handicap you give yourself.
The outright winner has to be at and logged into the 2012 UK Mega, before the start of the event day, and will have covered the most miles in getting there. There will be a prize for the winner and some subsidiary prizes.

There are a few rules:
- Race entrants are not to leave the UK.
- Entrants are not allowed to hitch-hike around several caches with a single cacher.
- Entrants can go to events.
- If your entry has sat in a cache for more than 2 weeks, then you may intervene to get it on the move again (either in person or by getting in touch with a cacher near to it).
- No race mileage can be logged before 31st July 2011.
- Only logged miles up to and including the eve of UK Mega 2012 count.
- Entrants are not to travel via Royal Mail or any other carrier service.
In order to clarify the above, this means that for race mileage:
- 'Visits' are invalid and the associated mileage will be ignored.
- Consecutive 'drops' by the same geocacher are invalid and the associated mileage will be ignored.
- 'Drops' to non-UK locations are invalid and the associated mileage will be ignored.
Where any of these occur the distance between the last two valid 'drops' will be calculated and the race mileage adjusted. There is no need to delete any logs as we will simply ignore the ones that don't count.
The decision of the Organisers will be final.
